1.Updates on Global Market Scale and Material Composition The global cosmetic packaging market reached USD 48.2 billion in 2025 and is projected to exceed USD 51.5 billion in 2026, representing an annual growth rate of 7.2%. Plastics account for 48% of total packaging materials, while the share of bio-based and biodegradable materials has risen to 22%. Glass and aluminum packaging for high-end makeup register the fastest growth. More than 60 countries worldwide have introduced EPR packaging recycling regulations. The EU’s PPWR mandates that plastic packaging must contain a minimum of 30% recycled content by 2030.
2.Mass Production of Mainstream Eco-Friendly Materials PCR single-material plastic tubes At the Paris Beauty Show, Lisson Group launched fully PP single-material tubes where the tube body, shoulder and cap are made of the same material for direct recycling without disassembly. Sugarcane bio-based tubes generate one-third of the carbon emissions of conventional plastics and are 100% recyclable. The industry is phasing out multi-layer composite pumps that are hard to recycle. L’Oréal has launched all-plastic pumps without metal springs.
3.Paper-Based & Plant Waste Modified Packaging At the Bologna Cosmopack, PP makeup cases modified with hazelnut shells and waterproof paper cream tubes were showcased. Guerlain uses molded cellulose to replace traditional outer glass boxes for its premium cream lines, and mushroom mycelium outer packaging has achieved mass commercial application.
